A fundamental problem of education

A fundamental problem of education is to boil each subject down to its most useful core. If that were done more learning would take place and less time would be wasted on material of questionable utility.

History should be more about the history of knowledge and less about wars and battles. Trigonometry could be boiled down to two weeks, calculus to one semester. Physics should include mechanical analogies to electric circuit components.
